Rathbun Lake is a 34,000 acre project, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Iowa Department of Natural Resources. There are ten recreation areas that offer camping, boating, swimming, fishing and other activities for visitors. The Corps of Engineers manages five park areas that contain over 475 campsites. Rathbun’s two marinas are operated by concessionaires that provide additional services for visitors. The 125 acre Rathbun OHV Park provides trails for all riders and a practice track for more experienced riders.
Rathbun is home to two state parks, including Iowa’s only resort state park, Honey Creek.
In addition, this large block of land and water is plentiful with fish and game of all kinds. Around the lake you will find many great habitat areas for whitetail deer, turkey, pheasants, quail, waterfowl and many other game species.
