Notice of Public Hearing – Proposed Budget FY 2021/2022
Resolution 6-2021-Maximum Property Tax Dollars of the City of Moravia FY2022
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – CITY OF MORAVIA – PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX LEVY FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2021-JUNE 30, 2022
DISINFECTING WIPES ARE NOT FLUSHABLE
With the increased use of disinfecting wipes with the Corona virus pandemic, please remember these wipes are NOT flushable, even though they are marketed as “flushable.” DO NOT FLUSH paper towels, Kleenex, wipes, or rags down the toilet. Residents should know that these wipes will plug the lift pumps and fill the lagoons even faster with sludge, costing money to remove and reducing the lagoon’s treatment capacity, which will cause your sewer bill to go up faster than it would need to. Thank you for your cooperation!

DELINQUENT WATER BILLS
Water bills are due on the 25th of each month. If customer disagrees with the charges, they are given the opportunity of a hearing. Customers have until 10 AM on the 10th of the following month to pay their bill. If the bill is not paid at that time, water will be disconnected. No exceptions and no extensions by order of the Moravia City Council. If disconnected, a $200 reconnect fee plus the delinquent amount must be paid before service will be reconnected. Reminder telephone calls will no longer be made to delinquent customers.
If the reconnect fee and delinquent amount is paid before 3:00 PM on a business day when City Hall is open, service will be restored the same day. If the reconnect fee and delinquent amount is paid after 3:00 PM on a business day when City Hall is open, service will be restored as soon as reasonably possible on the next business day, excluding weekends and holidays.
SHUT-OFF NOTICES ON DOORS DISCONTINUED
The City Council has announced there will no longer be shut-off notices attached to the doors of residences where water bills are delinquent. As in the past, a letter will still be sent to any customer with a delinquent water/sewer bill. The letter will advise the resident of the status of the account, the amount owed, and the date and time it must be paid in full before water service is shut off. If a customer disagrees with the charges, they have the right to a hearing with members of the City Council. If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at 641-724-9811.
